"The Fray"
by Taylor Colbert

"You march down the line
of war and deceit.
The lies they programmed
spurring on your hate.

You were once a child,
full of hope and life.

Never did I dream
you'd be sent off
into the fray;

Proud of the war machine
they made you out to be.

With that gun grasped
in your hands as if
it were your life line,

you go and do the bidding
of old men with dreams of war.

I asked you if you believe
in the cause that you fight for.

I remember that day,
you said, "I believe
in protecting the
ones that I love."

Never did I dream
you'd be sent off
into the fray;

Your smile wiped away;
Sent off into the fray.
